The Alternate Routes on EITM!

The Alternate Routes joined Elliot in-studio this morning...

They're from Bridgeport, Connecticut, where lead singer, Tim Warren and guitarist, Eric Donnelly met back in 2002 while attending Fairfield University. Tim would like everyone to know that he graduated in three years. By 2005, they recorded their debut album entitled Good and Reckless and True in Nashville.

Tim Warren's laryngitis prevented the band from performing in-studio this morning. Thankfully, EITM was their last stop before heading home. Their bassist, Chip Johnson, is a resident of Virginia who lives in Gainesville. He's a 2001 graduate of Chantilly High School and has attended DC101's Chili Cook-Off several times in the past...could he be on the bill one day?

Before heading back home, the band performed an acoustic version of "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty, something we've heard Ben Kweller perform live in-studio in the past.

In case you were keeping track, Elliot opened up the segment with their current single, "The Future's Nothing New." He also played, "A Sucker's Dream" and "All That I Can See" from their second album, A Sucker's Dream which is available online and in stores now.

At least one of the "spotters" during the actual race was an NBC4 camera guy who got the traffic stop on tape. That's when Kyle was pulled over for going 57 mph in a 55 mph zone! Hahaha...Priceless!

New Zealand Warriors – NRL surprise packets

New Zealand Warriors What would an NRL league season be without controversy? The NRL rugby league season is only two weeks old and already we have a side being deducted the points for winning as they had too many people on the field, we have last year's premiers winless and we have one of the dark horses playing some fantastic football.

That dark horse is the New Zealand Warriors who currently sit in top spot on the NRL ladder. They've done well in defeating Parramatta and Manly and would be firming in NRL betting. Last year they shocked Melbourne in the finals with one of the biggest surprise NRL results witnessed in some time. It looks like they have built on that momentum and overcome the tragic loss of Sonny Fai. This is one of the saddest stories ever to have happened in the NRL rugby world but it could be one which galvanizes the Warriors and inspires them to their first NRL title.

In this early stage of the competition, you don't want to get carried away. There is still plenty of time to regroup but you don't want to dig yourself too much of a hole too early. It's critical to maintain at least a 50% ratio in the win-loss column.

Elliot Not Happy With Richard Patrick!

Elliot has publicly expressed his anger with Richard Patrick, the lead singer of Filter, who performed at Kegs & Eggs X...

"Prima Donna," "Captain A-Hole," and "Arrogant" were just a few of the words used to describe Richard Patrick, whose opening performance can be seen here.

His continuous use of a certain four-letter-word caused listeners to miss the end of Kegs & Eggs X, when the live broadcast was dumped to music. "The ending was horrific," Elliot told listeners as he apologized for the performance. "I'll never do anything with him again," he said.

Filter had originally planned to re-enter the stage to perform "Take a Picture", but shortly before that, Elliot confronted Richard Patrick off stage telling him that his set was over...

Not only did Richard Patrick insist the house lights (which had stayed on for the other performers) be turned off for Filter's performance, he deliberately ignored requests that he refrain from cursing and...don't get me started on the water thing! Plus, did anyone else hear him refer to the event as "Eggs & Kegs"???

Nevertheless, Elliot made one thing clear, "They won't be playing Kegs & Eggs 11, or 12, or 13!"

I'm told that "RANLOM" is Molnar spelled backwards, which is Tyler's last name. Oh Cool!

EITMonline Gets Makeover!

After nearly two years, EITMonline.com has finally received a makeover...

My first thought was: Goodbye black and gold! This time it seems they have returned to the ease of the grey themed layout that has suited them in the past.

The grey, white, and blue are much brighter! The new layout also lends more room to feature larger images.

The functionality is pretty much the same. There's still separate pages for audio, videos, and photos. The daily recap and Diane's Dirt are shown on the main page, they also have their own pages.

For you fans of the playlist..don't worry, it made the cut! The Twitter feed is also there, along with a few links. No EITMfans?

The only changes I would recommend: Make the top header larger and move the "Coming Up" feature back to the top of the page like before. Also, add the station logos back to the website as well.

What do you think of the new layout? Vote in my poll!

Iraqi Goalkeeper from Sinjar Killed during Victory Celebration

Two teams of Iraq representing the Shiite villages of Sinjar and Enana, near Hilla, which is south of Baghdad, played a close-fought match on Saturday, with Sinjar winning, 2-1. During celebrations, an off-duty police officer Jawad Kadham, 28, started firing his service pistol into the air but lost control of it, the police said. A bullet struck the Sinjar goalie, an 18-year-old high school senior named Mohammed Amin, in the head, killing him instantly. There was no indication the goalie was shot intentionally; Jawad Kadham was a Sinjar fan.

NRL Rocked by Sexual Assault Charge

Brett StewartThe scandal could not have come for a worst time for the NRL. A week before the start of the 2009 NRL Rugby League season and Brett Stewart, the face of the NRL league is charged with sexual assault. As the NRL rugby is all too well aware, no amount of good publicity and fantastic NRL results can erase the stench an incident such as this occurs.

The media thrives on these types of stories. Players get up to mischief all the time and sometimes the clubs are able to intervene before the story gets out of hand. They nip it in the bud or try and brush it under the carpet so you never hear about it. Not this time.

Some people are calling for an alcohol ban; that players shouldn't go out to pubs and clubs. The fact of the matter is that the players need to be sensible enough to realize that prevention is better than cure. As athletes and celebrities they have a target on their back when they go out in public, even more so when it's to places where alcohol is involved. They need to be discreet where they don't have to worry about people trying to bait or provoke them. Even if it's their fault, the only thing that makes news is that a celebrity was involved. It might be unfair, but some may say loss of privacy is a fair price to pay for the huge pay check in return.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

My Kegs & Eggs X Recap!

Another year of Kegs & Eggs has come and gone...

My morning started off on The X Short Bus which was reserved for Cut the Line winners from Richmond. The bus was a "Keg Bus" but no alcohol was allowed. Needless to say people made the best of it...

We pulled up to the 9:30 Club at 8am. It was nice to bypass the line that wrapped around the block. We caught a contact high though...

Flounder and Travis Bagent were up in the balcony talking to Elliot when I came in. Flounder decided to take on Travis...

Not such a good idea...

I landed a great spot in front of Elliot...close to the stage. Abby Wambach and Allie Long soon made their way in for a brief chat...

Say cheese ladies!

Up next was Captain Chaos himself: Chris Cooley...

It was hard to hear what they were talking about, but at one point the crowd started chanting, "Fuck T.O! Fuck T.O!"...Did you hear?

Tanner Cooley is the coolest guy ever! I thanked him for linking to my blog. Here's Kyle and Tanner chattin' it up...Hi Seth!

Carbon Leaf was the first band up! Without them Kegs & Eggs just wouldn't be the same. As always, they were awesome...

And in true Kegs & Eggs fashion, Flounder and Kyle joined in...

Up next was Spike Mendelsohn from Season 4 of Top Chef...

No frozen scallops at this guy's restaurant...

Hoobastank was on stage next! They rocked the house...Amazing!

I'm spinning out of control. Out of control...

Doug Robb's shirt said, "Music Makes Me Happy"...

Ted Leonsis stopped by for a chat...Let's go CAPS!

Carolina Liar played a few tunes from the balcony...

Most people couldn't see, so it was more or less a bathroom break...

Filter took to the main stage next...

Richard "FUCKING" Patrick loves FUCKING water! Did you FUCKING hear me? He loves FUCKING water! He got me FUCKING wet...

I had a blast at Kegs & Eggs X...it was my first, but definitely not my last! Here's the shirt I picked up on the way out...

Thanks to Casey and Greg for making the trip possible. Also, a special thanks to Wendy Atkinson (a.k.a. Battery Saver Girl)!
