Dear Ravens Fans...

Could you tell from this morning's show that the Washington Redskins had a game on Sunday?

Well, the Baltimore Ravens have a game tonight against the Steelers. For those of you wondering why Elliot doesn't have a Chris Cooley-esque player representing the Ravens, here's what Tyler had to say when the topic was brought up last Wednesday:

Finally, over the last couple weeks, Elliot has received a handful of e-mails from Channel 104.3 listeners, asking why Elliot In The Morning does not support the Baltimore Ravens. This morning, he addressed the e-mails on the air, saying that that back when he found out that Clear Channel was going to flip Smooth Jazz 104.3 to Channel 104.3, he immediately went to the Ravens and asked if they would be interested in having one of their players do a weekly segment a la the Redskins' Chris Cooley. He didn't ask for anyone in particular. He just wanted someone.

Anyway, the response back from the team explained how head coach John Harbaugh and staff had decided to prohibit the players from signing any new media deals with radio or television stations until further notice. Of course, the team would honor existing contracts, but Harbaugh wanted the players to focus on the field and not the airwaves, which for a team that went 5-11 last year is completely understandable.

That said, we're now four weeks into the season and we still haven't heard a thing out of the offices at Owings Mills. As soon as we do hear though, we’ll let you know right away, but “until further notice,” it’s just going to be Chris and our good friend and former pro, Brandon Noble, which to be honest, ain’t that bad… even if you’re a Ravens fan.
You can catch Monday Night Football with Baltimore at Pittsburgh tonight at 8:30PM EST on ESPN.

EITM Wishes You a Happy Rosh Hashanah!

Happy Rosh Hashanah from Elliot In The Morning...

Did you hear EITM's message during breaks this morning? If you're like me, you probably needed the definition for the Jewish holiday:
Rosh Hashanah (Hebrew for 'head of the year') is a holiday commemorating the culmination of the seven days of Creation, and marking God's yearly renewal of His world. The day has elements of festivity and introspection, as God is traditionally believed to be assessing His creation and determining the fate of all for the coming year.
Where is Zach the Jewish Kid when you need him? L'shanah tovah!

On Monday 09/29/08...

I've noticed a new feature on DC101.com...

They've put together a nice little graphic with a picture of Elliot and a list of guests for Monday's show.

Since Elliot's daily tease is taken down when a new one goes up, I've always shown a screen cap, along with a list of who will be on the show. That way the memory of that tease will live on forever...

You can check out the current tease on the side of the page.

Stay tuned for a big daily tease tribute on October 24th, which will mark the one year anniversary of Elliot's daily tease.

Oh and he's still pimping his high school reunion. Click here to listen to today's call.

The Greaseman Dead?

As heard on EITM this morning...

After Elliot tried to reach him several times, Greaseman called in to the show just before 10:30AM to confirm that he is in fact alive and well. He also shot down rumors that he put together the video tribute himself, saying it was most likely "an overzealous fan."

* For now, you can still catch the Greaseman every Saturday morning starting at 8AM on DC101.

Sandra is making headlines with regards to a handful of disparaging remarks she's made (while in DC) about current Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin...

Chris Cooley: "I Can't Confirm or Deny That Was My Penis!"

Fresh from his "Penisgate" over the weekend, Washington Redskins tight end, Chris Cooley made his weekly phone call to Elliot In The Morning to discuss his penis football.

Halfway through the interview, Elliot dove in head first (sorry I couldn't resist) for the obvious. I've transcribed it below:

Elliot: Alright, let's get into the penis controversy Chris.

Chris: I can't confirm or deny that was my penis, but I can say...how does that even happen?

Elliot: Well I don’t know, I wasn’t the one taking the picture.

Chris: Um...three people missed that going up to our website.

Elliot: Okay, let’s go back to the beginning...

Chris: That was a major accident! I mean, we didn’t hear about that until eight o'clock last night.

Elliot: Ok, but I gotta’ go back to the beginning. So the thing that you’re reading - I guess Jim Zorn puts together like position tests for you guys or something like that – You know what I don’t even care. But my point is why would you be reading that with your mule hanging out?

Chris: It was - I don’t think anyone was reading it. It was to uh – it was just to take a picture of that real quick.

Elliot: So it was like, "Oh, I gotta’ take a picture of this...mind the hog!" Bam! And nobody sees that when it goes up on the website?

Chris: Like I said man, I was busy all day yesterday so...[laughs]...I guess - I guess that's life. Um...no, luckily everyone that has to do with our website is pretty relaxed so...

Diane: Tanner!

Elliot: Hey, it got by Tanner – who knows?

Chris: It's um...its happening.

Elliot: Hey, who brought it to your attention that your wiener is out on the Internet?

Chris: Tanner. Someone texted him. I don't look at the website, I'm not like "Cyber Dude" that checks out the website every hour so, I just heard about it and then...

[Chris was dumped by Elliot]

Elliot: I'll dump that. I don't know if you’ve spent much time running around though, but if you go to like Deadspin and stuff like that, some of the user comments are hysterical! And some of the Photoshops are great!

Chris: Oh, I'm sure...you know what, I haven't checked. I'm probably going to...God, I'm happy that we won.

Elliot: Hey did anybody - I have to know did anybody from the team get to you and go, "Chris, seriously. Can you get your pecker off the website?"

Chris: No, I called our media guy last night after we found out. His name is Zach. I was like, "Zach [laughs] you're probably going to have some media to deal with." But no, I mean honestly, it's not like we were trying to put up – we're not trying to put that on. It was an accident that made it. Uh...we kind of felt bad because obviously like, everyone checks it out and we didn't really mean to have that happen so...whatever. We'll deal with it, we'll get a lot of hits from it.

Elliot: Yeah, I know where you're coming from. A lot of times if I have – like for example...

Chris: Don't make fake excuses...I know, there's no way this could ever happen, but it happened.

Elliot: No, no...I'm not making – Like for example, I know that I had to put notes together knowing that you were going to be on today and I took a picture so I wanted everyone to know what my notes looked like and of course when I'm doing notes for Chris Cooley, I got my pants down!

Chris: Who doesn't?
In his most recent blog post, Chris addresses the incident:

All apologies from the website. We are very sorry that we showed a penis on our website all day yesterday. That was by no means our intention and we did not want to offend anyone. The picture wouldn't have been up for so long, but we were in the middle of winning a big game. Once again, this was a complete accident and we regret not reviewing the post more closely. Thanks.
This whole penis thing has actually received quite a bit of media coverage. Maybe Chris should have this accident more often?

Chris Cooley's Penis...Revealed!

So besides my rant about SiteMeter, the top Google search to my blog today has been: Chris Cooley Penis...

I kid you not! People are entering my blog through a post back in May entitled, "Staring at Chris Cooley's Penis!"...referring to his adventures with NFL drug testing.

Naturally, I had to find out why people would be searching for such a thing...on a Sunday no less. Come to find out, Chris Cooley may have accidentally posted a picture of his penis while he showed off a page in his team play-book on his blog.

The post and said picture have since been removed, but if you search hard enough (pardon the pun) you might just find it.

Will Elliot bring this up when he talks to Chris later this morning?

UPDATE:
Elliot asked Chris about the picture in question. His response was, "That was a major accident...I can't confirm or deny that it was my penis." Chris said that the picture went through three people before it was posted to his blog. How could somebody have missed that? Elliot and Diane remained skeptical...

Um...yeah.

The New SiteMeter Sucks!

This won't mean anything to those of you who don't have a blog or a website, but if you do, you probably know how user friendly SiteMeter was before the "migration" over the weekend...

After logging into the new website, (which took an eternity) I was shocked to find out that the "new and improved" website ain't so great. It's more like a big steaming pile of shit if you ask me.

Instead of moving forward, the company has obviously decided to take a huge leap back. When will people realize that "if it aint broke, don't fix it?!" I'm sure they will get the hint when people like myself begin dropping the service very soon.

So here's to SiteMeter! May your new migration...migrate you into the ground...because you have taken what once was a simple-user friendly-fast service and turned it into a complicated-confusing-slow-limited-piece of crap! Good riddance...

Thoughts?

UPDATE(S):
- Glad to see I'm not the only one who hates it.

- 4:30PM EST -- SiteMeter has realized they crapped the bed...
Good Afternoon,

We have received and heard your feedback concerning the latest changes to the website. We will implementing a rollback to the website immediately. We will also be responding to each of your support requests as soon as possible. If you have any questions please let us know.

SiteMeter Support Team
- 5:27PM EST -- The website is down for a rollback...Thank God!

- 6:42PM EST -- SiteMeter issues mea culpa:
Our Apologies -
September 14, 2008

Dear Valued SiteMeter Customers,

As you’re no doubt aware by now, we’ve chosen to roll back our website to the previous “classic” version.

Based on some performance issues we were experiencing along with feedback from the community it appears we have pushed our new site live prematurely.

Our intention is and has always been to offer you, our customer’s better tools and more accurate data. Obviously we fell short of this. The first thing we need to do, moving forward, is to roll out new product releases in parallel to our current platform. This will give everyone a chance to try out, evaluate, and comment on our new concepts.

We would also like to take this opportunity to ask those of you who had issues or concerns with the new site to participate in future beta testing. We had originally asked for Beta Tester in two of our newsletters sent earlier this year so we’re eager to build our beta group even larger. If you’re interested in participating please send us an email using our support ticketing system with BETA TESTER in the subject line of your email.

In the near term we’ll be evaluating the performance issues and feedback from our community. If you have additional input that would help us build you a better product we’d like to hear from you.

We apologize for the botched rollout and will do our best to make sure the next time we do this it has your full support and blessing.

Sincerely,

The SiteMeter Team

EITM's Blackjack Tournament Cancelled?

Even though there hasn't been an official announcement, I've pretty much figured it out. As you know, EITM's Big Bad Blackjack Tournament was supposed to take place on Thursday, September 18th at The Presidential Golf Club in Arlington, VA. The proceeds were to benefit ZERO - The Project to End Prostate Cancer...

Last week, if you clicked this link you could register for one out of 150 spots at the event. However, the registration has since been removed and the event is no longer on the calender of events...

Could the cancellation of the tournament have something to do with an investigative report by Fox 5 about the club's alleged practice of stiffing contractors out of nearly $3.4 Million? Watch here.

If you have any more info about the cancellation, let me know...

Elliot Remembers 9/11...

Seven years after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Elliot's annual tradition of honoring the people who lost their lives with a moment of silence continued this morning...

He paused the the show at: 8:46AM, 9:03AM, 9:37AM, and 10:03AM, the moments in which each plane crashed.

The new 9/11 memorial was unveiled at the Pentagon as well.

Never forget...

Happy Birthday Diane!

Today is Diane's birthday...

The boys got together and gave Diane a gift. Here's Tyler's take:

As many of you heard, today was Diane’s birthday. And as some of you heard (those of you who didn’t change the station in disgust), we gave her a gift. What was it? Sadly, I can’t say. Actually, I guess I can tell you one thing: it was a link to a website. But that’s it! Curious? I’d be… which is exactly why I’ve posted the audio of Diane opening the site and subsequently, looking at it on her work computer. Hear that, Clear Channel? Work. Computer. Anyway, if you do choose to listen, I want you to remember that with gifts and giving it’s the thought that counts… and that Flounder thought of the whole thing.

Tom and Gurvir Have Twins!

From The Reliable Source:

Twin girls to Fox 5 morning anchor Gurvir Dhindsa and her husband, former Fox 5 weatherman Tom Sater, on June 28, the couple told us in their first public announcement yesterday.

Virginia Grace and Lena Caroline were born 10 weeks prematurely -- three pounds and 2 pounds 6 ounces, respectively -- and spent their first months in a neonatal ICU, coming home to the couple's Fauquier County place on Labor Day. Now the girls weigh in at a healthy 5 pounds 12 ounces each. Dhindsa has endless praise for the folks at Inova Fairfax and Inova Fair Oaks hospitals: "Those people are miracle workers." She'll return to the airwaves Nov. 3. (And no, we didn't know they were married, either. That's news, too!)

Looks like Tom will be taking some much needed vacation time from his managerial position at Tractor Supply Company. And don't think we didn't notice that he's now newly married...how scandalous!

Update:

Gurvir Dhindsa called Fox 5 this morning and she and the babies are doing well.

'Mash Ups' Producer Suspended!

Producer Phil has been suspended from Flounder's Mash Ups...

Flounder skated around the issue as Elliot tried to get the dirt out of him this morning. Elliot speculated that Phil may have been suspended for not editing out curse words in the music. Flounder said that wasn't it, but added, "I'm not talking about it."

Phil was suspended for two weeks, but will return for the 5th anniversary of Mash Ups next Saturday. You can catch Flounder's Mash Ups every Saturday night from 10PM - Midnight on DC101.

Elliot told us about a 29-year-old unemployed man by the name of Ryan Ward who pretends to be New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain. He's slept with 100 chicks this summer because of it.

Kyle used to pretend he was Ryan Cabrera (cue crickets chirping)...

I'll admit the two had somewhat of a resemblance four years ago. Now the only thing they have in common is their love for animals...

Andrea Mitchell Attacked By Balloons!

NBC's Andrea Mitchell found herself in the midst of a balloon drop while reporting from the floor of the RNC last night...

That was by far the most funniest thing I've seen all week! Haha!

After West Ham's Alan Curbishley, Its New Castle's Kevin Keegan

Kevin KeeganKevin Keegan quit as Newcastle United manager for a second time following a dispute over player transfers, a day after Alan Curbishley resigned from English Premier League soccer rival West Ham for the same reason.

Keegan, who also quit Newcastle in 1997, received a letter yesterday from managing director Derek Llambias that failed to resolve the issues, the League Managers Association said in a statement. Keegan held the job for less than eight months and said he had ``worked desperately'' to resolve his differences.

"It's my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want," Keegan said in the statement. "I have been left with no choice other than to leave."

Newcastle said in a statement it was ``disappointed'' after spending several days in talks and putting forward "a set of practical suggestions for how to move forward."

Keegan disagreed over the sale of winger James Milner to Aston Villa last week and was upset that billionaire owner Mike Ashley wanted to sell striker Michael Owen, according to U.K. media reports. Keegan's loyalty to Joey Barton was another sticking point with Ashley, who wanted to get rid of the player who recently was released from prison, the Daily Mail reported.
