Martina Navratilova has Breast Cancer
The AP is reporting that nine-time Wimbledon women's champion Martina Navratilova has already undergone a lumpectomy for a lump found on a routine mammogram in January 2010. Her prognosis is reported to be excellent.
The lump was discovered in January, and a biopsy in February was performed. The cancer is known as ductal cancer in situ, or DCIS. The survival rate for this type of cancer is 98%. She will undergo radiation therapy next month.
