EITM's Big Ass Football Bash Cancelled!
You can say that EITM fans have become somewhat accustomed to annual events being cancelled. Last year's DC101's Non-Denominational Christmas Party and EITM's Easter Keg Hunt are just a couple that come to mind. Sadly, EITM's Big Ass Football Bash has become the latest casualty...
"The answer is no, there will not be a Big Ass Football Bash," Elliot said Wednesday.
The party has been held every year, for ten years in a row, surviving the wrath of multiple sales staffs and production directors, too numerous to count.
Current DC101 production director, Dave Wellington, joined Elliot in the studio Wednesday morning to discuss why the event had been cancelled. What happened next goes down as one of the most awkward moments in EITM history - next to Craig Henderson's on-air resignation in 2007.
Elliot pressed Dave on several issues concerning a lack of planning for the event and even told a caller, "I believe he is not telling you exactly what he thinks."
Ultimately, Dave blamed the issue on the economy and finding a location to house the event. "Everybody had the best intentions to make this event happen," he said.

Could Howard Stern Replace Elliot?
Straight from the rumor meer...
Update:
Elliot has responded to an email from a listener saying, "I am not going anywhere."
Clear Channel Communications is interested in signing radio shock jock Howard Stern.Do you think Clear Channel would actually bring Howard Stern back to Washington, D.C. and replace Elliot on DC101? I'd say with that company, anything is possible. We'll wait and see what happens...
The nation's largest radio station owner, and the home of conservatives Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, confirmed its interest in Stern to The Associated Press on Monday.
Calls and e-mails to Stern's agent, Don Buchwald, and Stern's current employer, Sirius XM Radio Inc., were not immediately returned.
Stern's five-year, $500 million contract with Sirius expires at the end of the year.
John Hogan, CEO of Clear Channel's radio division, told Bloomberg BusinessWeek earlier that the company's interest depends on whether Stern would be willing to work within the limitations of over-the-air radio. The Federal Communications Commission restricts broadcasts of profanity and other indecent material.

Looking Towards Rod Laver Arena
One year is over and the new one begins. Just as quickly the build-up starts for the first Grand Slam event of the year. There are a lot of questions to ponder regarding this year’s Australian Open.
Defending champion, Rafael Nadal, isn’t heading into the tournament in the best of form and tennis betting isn’t sure what to make of him. It is quite crazy – 12 months ago he was just about invincible and how he is plagued by injury and self-doubt.
Similarly Roger Federer isn’t the same juggernaut he once was. Yes he played in all four Grand Slam finals last year but only won two of those most notably the US Open last time up to Juan Martin del Potro.
That leaves the question – how open is the men’s tournament? In previous years have sprung up surprise finalists be it Marcos Bagdhatis, Petr Korda or Thomas Johansson. Those last two actually won the tournament and never did anything else of note.
On the women’s side of things, the big question will be how Serena Williams fares. She came under huge scrutiny following her meltdown at the US Open.
Also there is the return of Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters. The two played in the 2004 decider which Henin won in three sets. You would think this places extra pressure on the likes of Dinara Safina, Ana Ivanovic, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Caroline Wozniacki, Elena Dementieva and Maria Sharapova.
The two Belgian players are really the only two who seems to not to crumple into a ball of nerves when playing one of the Williams sisters.
From a local perspective, again the best and probably only hope is Lleyton Hewitt. The problem for him is his age and injuries. He doesn’t look to have what it takes to make it deep into a Grand Slam. Also the draw doesn’t seem to do him any favors. There is Jelena Dokic but she doesn’t seem to be in the same groove as she was last year when she made it as far as the quarter-finals.
We shall see. As usual it will be a fantastic two weeks of tennis.
