PepsiCo Won't Be Bending it With David Beckham

After 10 years, soft drink giant PepsiCo Inc won't be bending it with David Beckham anymore. The soft-drink company and the England soccer star agreed to part this week, a decision both sides described as mutual in statements.

"We wish David well with the many projects he is pursuing and look forward to the possibility of partnering together with him again someday," the soft drink maker said in a statement.


"I hope everyone who has seen the work Pepsi and I have done together enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it and, who knows, there may yet be another chapter in this long relationship," he said in a statement.

Former Ireland Rugby International Trevor Ringland receives MBE

Former Ireland rugby international Trevor Ringland, who has played a key role in efforts to ensure a peaceful future for Northern Ireland has been named as an MBE in the New Year's Honours list.

Solicitor Trevor Ringland, a member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board who played for Ulster, Ireland and the British Lions during his rugby career was made an MBE for his services to the community.

Former police officer Brian McCargo is made an OBE for his services to sport and to the Special Olympics.

David Beckham Gets Another Tattoo: "My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart."

England's soccer star David Beckham now shows a biblical proverb in Hebrew on his left arm which reads: 'My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart.'

His wife Victoria "Posh" Beckham isn't too keen on the new design.

'Victoria doesn’t think David should have any more tattoos and tried to stop him,' the insider tells The Sun.

'She is worried he is hooked and she doesn’t know where it will all end.'

Becks also has the Hebrew phrase 'I am my beloved and my beloved is mine' on the same arm, next to 'Victoria' written in Hindi.

The tattoo has been done by David's favorite artist Louis Malloy.

Serbian tennis star Ana Ivanovic followed what her male compatriots Roger Federer and Andy Roddick did. This beautiful Serbian tennis icon signed a worldwide endorsement contract with Rolex S.A., the leading Swiss watchmaker. As the only female tennis player chosen by Rolex, she will be employed in their advertising and as an ambassador of their philanthropic and sporting ventures. Beyond tennis, Rolex respected Ana Ivanovic's appointment by the United Nations as the Unicef National Ambassador for Serbia in September, 2007.

47-year old Gary Lineker and his 29-year-old lingerie model fiancé Danielle Bux played with what looked like her Christmas gift - a labrador puppy.

Gary Linekar and the 29-year-old model Danielle were joined by two of Gary's sons from his first marriage, Harry, 13, and Angus, nine.

And Danielle's five-year-old daughter Ella showed some skill with the football as they played around with the golden-coloured pup in London's Richmond Park.

The world's fastest man Usain Bolt and Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva have been named World Athletes of the Year by The International Association of Athletics Federations.

The International Association of Athletics Federations said in a statment today the pair displayed unrivaled speed and agility, and the ability to perform with the poise and conviction of seasoned veterans.

"Each ended their respective seasons with virtually untarnished records, and left Beijing as dominating Olympic champions with feats that aren’t likely to be duplicated any time soon," the statement said.

Lassana Diarra Signs for Real Madrid Worth 20 Million Pounds

Real Madrid unveiled Lassana Diarra at the club’s Bernabeu Stadium on Monday (22 December).
The 23-year-old France international joined the club from English Premier League side Portsmouth in a deal worth in the region of 20 million pounds.

Lassana Diarra was unveiled to the Spanish media on Monday after completing his move from the English Premier League club Portsnmouth to the Spanish giants Real Madrid. Diarra signed a four-and-a-half-year contract which will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2013 after Madrid reportedly paid Portsmouth in the region of 20 million pounds (US$28 million).
The 23-year-old France midfielder says it’s a once in a lifetime move. “Nobody can refuse an offer to play for Real Madrid. I am very happy. It was my dream from a long time ago, and now that I am here I want to adapt as soon as possible to give everything to this club,” said Diarra.

Diarra, who began his playing career at French club Le Havre in 2004, has made 16 appearances for France. Diarra’s signing takes Madrid’s total spending on transfers to just under 300 million pounds (US$419 million) since president Ramon Calderon took office in 2006.

Russia's 7-feet Nikolai Valuev successfully defended his WBA title on Saturday night with a majority decision win over former world champion Evander Holyfield over 12 rounds.

Despite a brave display Evander Holyfield, who was bidding for his fifth world crown, the judges scored it 114-114, 116-112, 115-114 in Valuev's favour as the giant Russian successfully defended his title.

The seven foot Nikolai Valuev remained on the front foot as there was a big exchange during the ninth, and in the 10th Holyfield landed a strong right-left combination. Valuev finished better and pushed his opponent in the corner in the 12th .

After the final bell, both men hugged each other, with either fighter claiming the win. When the scorecards were read, boos rang out as the crowd favorite's narrow defeat was confirmed.


"Of course I am disappointed," Holyfield (42-10-2) told the Associated Press. "I thought I had done enough to get the win. Now I have to go home and think about my future."

All Black Adam Thomson Charged With Assaulting A Female

Police sources confirmed that Adam Thomson, 26, was arrested early yesterday (21st Dec, Sunday) in Havelock North and has been charged with assaulting a female.

Thomson was processed at the Hastings police station and will appear in the Hastings District Court tomorrow.


Highlanders chief executive Richard Reid said he found out about the incident yesterday, but did not know any details.

"All I'm aware of is that there was some sort of incident."

Thomson was on annual leave. It was too soon to talk about disciplinary measures, Reid said.

New Zealand Rugby Union professional rugby manager Neil Sorensen said he was also aware of the incident.

"But as it is a police matter, it would be inappropriate to make any further comment at this stage."

The 1.96m tall loose forward has represented New Zealand at various levels in rugby since 2000. Thomson also plays for the Highlanders in the Super 14.

I Know Why Elliot Was Suspended!

I think I've figured it out!

Just got my hands on some audio from last week (Thanks Scotty!) and this is what I've come up with...

Just before "Diane's Dirt" on Wednesday, December 10th (the day before EITM was suspended), Elliot talked with a listener who inquired about Three Doors Down tickets.

In the midst of mimicking her accent, Elliot said, "Yeah, you hit a guy named Aaron Wilborn with a bus and take him out and kill him, I'd be more than happy to give you a prize. Watch her go get a bus and kill him today...I'd be so happy!"

Who is Aaron Wilborn you ask? He is the General Sales Manager of DC101! Remember how frazzled Wellington got over a coffee pot?

Baiting a listener into killing a fellow co-worker and then expressing joy in the thought of their death probably didn't go over so well...

More On The Safari Trip...

Just got a note from Jon Mervis who said, "I wanted to let everyone know that it wasn't us at Mervis who pulled the plug on this safari trip."

Jon has updated the Mervis Diamond blog with the following blurb about the cancelliation:

For reasons beyond our control, the trip has been "postponed." As you can imagine, there were a huge amount of logistical hurdles to overcome in order to bring a team of city dwellers to Africa and broadcast a major radio show from the jungle. We're still hopeful the trip will happen, but we need to work out some new "kinks" that have come up. Personally, I'm really disappointed because I wanted to go on an elephant ride with Elliot and have some beers watching a real life, "Discovery: Project Earth", but alas, I'll have to wait a little longer.

Well there we have it, at least now we know a few more details! Hopefully there will be an EITM African Safari trip in the future...

A scene form "The Day The Earth Stood Still" where Allianz Arena stadium being blown out

Supporters of German sports club Bayern Munich are boycotting Keanu Reeves” ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ after seeing their stadium being blasted by aliens in the new science fiction thriller.

The trailer of the movie had raged soccer fans after it was aired on the club’’s giant TV screens, depicting the Allianz Arena stadium being blown to bits by aliens.

The club’s media director Markus Hoerwick said that they had no idea about the scene until it was screened in the match-day trailer.

Matthew Alexander was scheduled to be on last week, but due to Elliot's suspension he's been rescheduled for Thursday. He will be in-studio to talk about his book, How to Break a Terrorist at 8AM.

Last month we learned Channel 104.3 crashed to a disappointing 19th place in Baltimore's monthly radio ratings. This month WCHH has taken a nosedive to 23rd place.

Evander Holyfield (46) To Fight Nikolai Valuev (35) For WBA HeavyWeight Championship

Former world heayweight champion Evander Holyfield could well become the oldest ever heavyweight world champion at age 46, when he takes on Russian 7-foot 35-year old Nikolai Valuev in Zurich on Saturday.

"I am in great shape," said the 'Real Deal' 46-yeal old American pugilist from Atlanta, Georgia .

Evander Holyfield - who owns a record of 42 wins and 27 KOs with nine defeats - four of which have come in the last six years.

Nikolai Valuev from St. Petersburg, Russia, recaptured the WBA title when he beat John Ruiz in Berlin in August this year.


Valuev - who owns a record of 49 wins and 34 KOs with one defeat - said he had had an ideal preparation for the title fight.

The clash will take place in historic Zurich's Hallenstadion.

EITM's African Safari Trip CANCELLED!

Thirteen days after Elliot announced that in February 2009, he would be taking the show on an African Safari with Ronnie Mervis, the trip is now off...for now.

Elliot said that his recent suspension had nothing to do with the cancellation, but cited a change in schedules and itineraries as the cause.

"The Safari trip sadly is cancelled for now. Does it come back someday?...I hope so." he said.

Mervis Diamond Importers still has the trip listed on their website, leading one to assume that the cancellation was from Clear Channel.

Elliot Was Suspended Last Week!

Okay, so I was wrong about the technical difficulties part...

Elliot was back on-air Monday and announced that the African Safari trip was cancelled and that he was suspended last week.

"Thursday and Friday, I was kicked off the air. Part of my being kicked off the air and suspended and then being allowed to come back in here today was that I can't say why," he said.

"This week it's going to be awkward around here. There's already babysitters and monitors - that is specifically in case I go off, which clearly means they don't trust me at all," Elliot said, most likely referring to DC101 Program Director, Dave Wellington.

What Happened To Elliot In The Morning?

The title of this post has been the most searched question to EITMfans since Thursday. As you may know, the show wasn't live Thursday or Friday. So what did happen to EITM?

The Class was most definitely silenced by technical difficulties, having nothing to do with the FCC, as some have speculated.

Also, Flounder's arrest had nothing to do with the absence of the show either...since that happened over five years ago back in 2003.

The show was in Best Of on Thursday and Friday, so anything you heard was pre-recorded. Best Of is a compilation of past shows, also known as, "The best of Elliot In The Morning."

Hopefully that clears a few things up! Elliot has released a video saying, "According to all plans, we should be back on the air Monday."
